Bring your Hefty trash bags, gloves, picker upper and your high levels of energies and enthusiam!
Dear good folks: We have now grown to include two more families in the neighborhood.
This morning, January 10, as a prologue to our trip to the inauguration activities in Washington, DC, Abbie, a 9 year old, and Darin joined me, along with Regina who dropped off our sign and helped attract folks to our group. We filled up two huge trash bags, the Hefty kind, with guess what: car bumper parts, used q-tips, cigarette butts, cigarette packs, tequila bottles, and of course a Disneyland ticket…How about that? The next time, we might find some treasures.
Later, Celeste, another young girl, her mom, Helen, her dad, Simon and her toddler sister Camila came to join us from San Gabriel Valley to help clean up.
But, the best part of that early morning sacrifice made by four folks already had a ripple of kindness effect: Carmen of La Maision served breakfasts to the volunteers and the Patrick and Morgerman families are joining us for the next cleanup.
When is that? February 7, at 9-10 am is our next cleanup day and Abbie is already discussing uploading the photos in our website.
For all of you good folks, please spread the word to your networks: and keep them coming every first Saturday of the month for neighborhood cleanup…until our dreams come true to convert back alleys into solar-powered bikepaths and walkways for family bonding moments.
