On Monday, January 19th please join Action Arts League, Theater for the New City, Vision Festival, the Kostume Kult Arts Collective and numerous other NY cultural arts groups for the most colorful Inaugural Ball anywhere. Part of a national network of Obama administration coordinated events, this will be the place to be in NYC if you feel like partying as BHO takes the torch from GWB. Flyer & latest info:

TIME: Monday, January 19th, 5pm-2am with afterparty.

SCOOP: Kids activities 5-7, performances 7-10, dance party 10-late with interactive creative activities throughout.

WHERE: Theater for the New City, 1st Ave, betw 9th and 10th streets, NYC

WHO: Action Arts League, Kostume Kult, Dance Parade, Disorient DJ’s, Arts for Art/ Vision Festival, Groove Hoops, ANIMUS, Metal Tiger, Jazz Conductions, Tribes, Lower East Side Girls Club and Power of Peace Youth Coalition plus more being added daily.

THEME: “Dreams” – Consider this historic moment and the Dreams of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., Barack Obama and what YOUR dreams are for the future. Costumes, creativity and absurdity are encouraged!

OPPORTUNITY: The highest profile inaugural ball in America’s cultural capital— This is an opportunity to speak directly to your new President and he is listening… He is a community organizer. He believes in empowering the individual and he has reached out directly to all of us for help. As his team turns their attention to Urban and Cultural/Arts Policy, they will be looking for fresh new ideas and NYC, and our network in particular, shine most brightly. This is our opportunity to make a significant statement and we need your help.

COST: Donation before 9pm and $5/costume, $10/normal – after 9 Cheap drinks all night.

PARTICIPATE? Email participate@actionartsleague.org if you want to volunteer, lend/ create art or offer an interactive experience. We have two theaters and a large lobby to fill! Take part in the Dream Expression (video) Project, Help erect the Dream Tree or propose something that will amaze or entertain.

Coordinated by Action Arts League, this is like a mini-FIGMENT (www.figmentnyc.org), with multiple creative activities, in multiple rooms, in partnership with multiple groups. Kids stuff 5-7, Theatrical and musical performances 7-10 and DJ’s pumping in the main room after 10. As the event winds down at TNC (everyone out by 2am), follow the kids from Kostume Kult to the nearby afterparty and an exciting future for all of us.
